Thread: Installing Windows Server 2008 in VirtualBox on Server 11.10

i have old desktop machine , installed ubuntu server 11.10 on can serious web development & testing. have set lamp system , server resides on local network @ 192.168.2.20.

want virtualize windows server 2008 on machine can setup iis server , asp.net development & testing in parallel lamp server. virtual machine reside @ 192.168.2.21 address.

have followed procedure outlined here, created virtual machine , when run vboxmanage startvm "windows server 2008" & starts virtual machine successfully.

when try access windows 7 laptop using remote desktop, following error:

"remote desktop can't connect remote computer 1 of these reasons:

1) remote access server not enabled
2) remote computer turned off
3) remote computer not available on network

make sure remote computer turned on , connected network, , remote access enabled."

did sudo ufw allow 3389, since that's default port rdp sessions, things still don't work.

solution this?

what ip address of win server?

want make sure network adapter of vm set bridged adapter.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
