Thread: Missing /etc/cron.daily/apt

i setup unattended-updates package on ubuntu 11.04 server. however, found never executed, since no log files created. tried run manually. see created log files, running not problem. research led me missing /etc/cron.daily/apt. manuals found online assume file exists, e.g. one: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/au...ecurityupdates

apparently file not exist on system. using apt-file found should part of apt package. is, of course, installed. tried run dpkg-reconfigure , see if created - not...

conclusion file should there, not. have ideas problem might be?

i've struck same problem on new vps. i'm thinking owners might have trimmed out of cron setup?
