Level Tool is not working

hey trying adjust noise level level tool not working. move arrows every way see changes. want them press ok , cheanges little bit. become in preivew. level tool works when add new ajustment layer don't want want able copy new level of noise made , can't if add new adjustment. should fix this? o , trial version , wasn't wroking eailer lots of other tool uninstalled , working except level tool how want to.

to see actual adjustments, on detailed, high contrast image noise, need view @ 100% (actual pixels)

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
