Thread: After suspend/hibernate I get a very ugly XScreenSaver login window

lubuntu rocks - fast , looking.

1 thing spoils overall impression. after suspend or hibernate. when restarting ugly xscreensaver 5.14 login window spoils overall impression.

there way replace more elegant?

answer appears "no, ugly login after hibernate cannot (easily) replaced."

windowing toolkit not used login window after suspend/hibernate might compromise security. unlike other situations (demos , startup), when suspended or hibernated, user has been authenticated , there must no possibility of bug in screen saver or windowing toolkit enabling user bypass login window, see http://www.jwz.org/xscreensaver/faq.html#toolkits.

having understood this, makes perfect sense prioritise security on cosmetics.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
