Thread: Can somebody help me understand the ATI-Radeon issue better?

could me understand of issues both oss , proprietary ati drivers , relationship new kernel, gnome3/unity/cinnamon, , how of them work in kde/xfce?

ended replacing used high end nvidia card 4 years ago budget gaming card radeon family....wow! $70 newegg , plays skyrim on highest settings in windows. dont think there single nvidia card in price range compares, though think card made take advantage of cpu , system ram, sort of hybrid discrete/shared setup if understand right....so, budget card more meets needs.

well.....thats until installed newer ubuntu based distro. problem? installed proprietary drivers updates, , cant play urban terror without graphics f-ing up? proprietary driveri video editing , screencasts , use computer multi-media entertainment station multiple monitors.


so, how can half decent gaming performance out of card, , still support multiple screens , screencasts?

use oss driver gnome3, proprietary driver kde? issue gtk3, or kernel bug? im not sure how tackle or options are. im not stuck on desktop environment, want hardware work.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
