Thread: Dance Pad as Input Device

does have experience using usb dance pad alternative input device in ubuntu? i've tried experiments along these lines in windows, i'm trying move of computing possible ubuntu. i'm interested in specific dance pads known work ubuntu , software might useful.

first project try use dance pad input dasher, first thing i'm interested in emulating mouse. i've contemplated trying turn dance mat keyboard using ordered sequences of button presses on mat correspond characters. (i have java code implements on basic level. i've played edgewrite, unfortunately windows-only, though source available.)

have little ability type (but have basic programming knowledge), i'm trying use software exists as possible.

reference, have medical condition causes pain , weakness in hands , arms. ability type limited, , manage of computer use trackball, dwell clicker, , speech text software (which unfortunately windows-only , nonfree).

thoughts appreciated!

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
