Thread: Default directories


i newbie ubuntu 11.10 installed couple of days ago. have managed solve of problems on 6 machine windows network , seem communicating. installed ubuntu on machine installed win7 had been partitioned keep documents off c: drive (on d: drive named fdisk2) in case of windows problems requiring re-install. consequently original documents still available , can access them in unity/home folder fdisk2 shown device. have managed mount fdisk2 @ boot using pysdm utility want original "my documents" directory default , shown under "computer".

have edited <.config/user-dirs.dirs> achieve , works until reboot @ point file replaced again default versin , square one.one. please explain in newbie simple terms how can make change permanent not overwritten @ boot.

try changing file "read only". right click on file , go permissions tab.
