Thread: USB mouse stops working 10.04

i running virtual installation of ubuntu 10.04 using version 4.1.8 of oracle's virtualbox on windows xp.

using wireless, external mouse , keyboard logitech. connect via usb wireless sensor/transmitter. of course cannot sure, dont think problem external devices touchpad shows same sympthoms described below.

problem mouse appears cut out.
cursor still moveable, cannot left click. (right-handed mouse, left click should highlight).
problem begins after booting. forums said happens after 5-10 minutes, not case me. happens after few clicks. less five. after booting works once or twice, fails.

able undo problem right clicking on desktop. seems free left click function few more clicks. freezes again.

other interesting point in theubuntu guest cannot alt+tab switch between windows. alt works , underlines capital letter of each menu item, combining tab, not flick between windows.

there no evidence of problem in host windows xp. however, in virtualbox control window, mouse not 'unclick' . if left click, have hit escape undone.

far have tried purge irqbalance option, reinstalling packages related mouse , mdetect, inputattach.

tried adjust clocksource, think failed. set tsc , tried change alternative, acpi_pm. unsuccessfully.

perhaps guys have more advice on this. or idea on how check if steps took have worked.


please forgive silly questions in advance, pretty ignorant far guts of linux or ubuntu goes.
