Thread: wired connection drops randomly

hello, green ubuntu/linux user here. running 11.10 on hp pavilion a6228x. have wired connection set manually. connected upon start up, after time browsing web or when i've tried fetch additional drivers, connection disappears -- however, ubuntu still shows connection working. way restart. believe network settings appropriate judging previous posts.

i've attached images information requested in previous posts:

lsmod
cat /etc/resolv.conf

any other devices on local subnet? if , if 1 of them happened have same ip , tried access network, repeatedly ruin connection on pavilion.

apparently connected fau network , fau may have set individual bandwidth and/or data load (upload/download) limits users. might want check network admin or fau advisories find out if case.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
