Thread: Wireless connected, but no internet in 11.10

hey, i'm totally new linux business apologise in advance if come across dumb son of gun... but, anyway.

i've installed ubuntu 11.10 on desktop after being advised friend (who, might add, painfully unavailable after said advising). installed fine, looks pretty , shiny, , i've got apps , stuff wanted.

problem came when disconnected ethernet downstairs move upstairs study. i've got wireless dongle , running, , system connecting happily network after inputting security.... however...

linux lies me. it's saying wireless connected, i'm unable acess kind of internet.

please help! but, remember i'm new this, , might not understand of 'jargon'.

pains me ask help, i'm pretty wizard on windows , mac os.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
