Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 64-bit has stopped working [Lightroom 5 Beta]

i looking lightroom 5 beta forum unable find one.  today, downloaded , installed lr5 beta on new hp envy 64-bit windows 8 machine.  after running installation, started program.  @ first, asked opening catalogue during time created new 1 have no intention of using lr4 catalogue lr5b.  after creating catalogue, stated following:
"adobe photoshop lightroom 64-bit has stopped working.  problem caused program stop working correctly.  windows close program , notify if solution available."
after closed, tried opening again.  same result.  no matter how many times tried, program not open.  tried reinstalling program no avail using "repair" feature.  finally, removed program.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
