Can't install Acrobat 7 (the required re-install)

what pain.  in order re-verify long-working acrobat 7 (win 7) instructed uninstall it.  instructions download new install.exe, did.  new install program had aborted due several "error 1304 reports couldn't access file or folder.  tech chat support no (surprise?).  don't know how overcome isntall issue.  in meantime acrobat 7 program gone , can't reinstall it. acrobat should ashamed.

 

any ideas on why i'm getting these file access errors?

let know specifics - exact messages matter. seeing system damage being original cause of problems, failure reinstall.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
