Thread: Blank boot screen

hey,

i've been poking around day or 2 solve this, it's time help. have newly built machine, dropped windows 7 onto , made sure windows happy drivers before putting in ubuntu cd.

made separate partition ubuntu on primary drive, , ran installer livecd desktop. claimed have installed, figured should give shot. upon booting ubuntu greeted flashing purplish screen didn't respond except <ctrl>+<alt>+<f1> gave me black unresponsive screen (instead of active terminal).

after 2 failed boots pulled livecd again , wiped ubuntu partition fresh install, time install claimed fail before completing. installer gave me option remove , replace current ubuntu installation on system (presumably replace broken install install), figured i'd give chance.

, i'm flashing screen responds <ctrl>+<alt>+<f1> black screen. best guess driver video card, have no idea how put driver on when can't ubuntu.

ideas?

note, through windows 7 had been booting happily , running without problem.

well if windows 7 boots fine awesome. windows has thing doesn't other os booting it. people deny it, i've seen how denyable. now, it's not hardware problem, if was, windows wouldn't work.

let's redundant, sucks, model of gpu? installed it? did try putting driver disk in when booting linux? try that. can recovery mode @ all? if can desk top, try taking driver off cd. believe restricted drivers if driver recognized in repository can install it. if take file off disk linux may think it's not driver. don't know if opening wine @ all. it's clear wine not windows emulator hence it's name. way use executable files, no compatibility.

, maybe sudo apt-get install update

measure of course. if don't trust commands, i'll prove safe:

sudo apt-get install upgate me of course says nothing install, i've been doing day. it's better crack
