hello! well, unplugged laptop power supply , left there *didn't shut system properly*. when turned on, , chose on dual boot ubuntu, had "checking disk drive errors" below ubuntu logo. surprised, since never had problems widnows or ubuntu before...i skipped since found no problem , things take ages. there worry about? thank you, rima

if loose power that, or if when boot time check file system, far better let run part of 'routine maintance".

if working "ok", let these things run.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
