Thread: External Hard Drive Trouble

using ubuntu 10.04 amd64.
have external hard drive has same files , folders found on live cd(how came way open question, has hilariously stupid answer, i'm sure).
i've tried deleting files through file browser, nothing comes of that. also, i've tried reformat through system > administration > disk utility, gives message drive busy.

know of way reformat hard drives in more forceful way or else might help?

download iso image of gparted website , burn cd. start when have in cd drive , open program. can format or partition of drives on computer. thing using gparted cd of drives unmounted can work on of them.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
