since morning have been having issues mouse, left clicking results in grab icon rather selecting desired object, can remedied holding shift or control keys.
mouse seems work fine in unity side bar , lens view. problem seems related user account alone not affect guest login. reason window borders have turned orange despite no theme changes being made

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
