Thread: Newbie with TLS OpenLDAP install issues

i'm new @ this, kind... yes, i've rtf , done numerous google searches, still having issues.

so, new install of ubuntu server 11.04. has gone great in basic install process. following server guide openldap installation:

https://help.ubuntu.com/11.04/server...ap-server.html

have made through:
populating ldap - fine
ldap replication - skipped
setting acl - fine
tls , ssl - here's having issues.

made through step 7 no problems. after step 7 says:
"once have certificate, key, , ca cert installed, use ldapmodify add new configuration options: " , gives bunch of options.

how use code (that provided):
sudo ldapmodify -y external -h ldapi:///

to add these changes (that provided):
enter ldap password: dn: cn=config add: olctlscacertificatefile olctlscacertificatefile: /etc/ssl/certs/cacert.pem - add: olctlscertificatefile olctlscertificatefile: /etc/ssl/certs/ldap01_slapd_cert.pem - add: olctlscertificatekeyfile olctlscertificatekeyfile: /etc/ssl/private/ldap01_slapd_key.pem modifying entry "cn=config"
feel should easy , basic lack of knowledge how use "ldapmodify", still need help. so, please me!!!

in advance,
brad

hello here reply newbie too. i'm doing same.
figured out following.
firing modify command set in input mode.
although manual shows "enter ldap password:", no password asked when fire command.
can copy/past te rest of "statements". don't paste last line. show if put white-line @ end close op input mode.

nevertheless @ end server responds with:
code:
ldap_modify: insufficient access (50)
all reference files in place , showing sudo ls.

idea?
