Thread: Running x11/nodejs standalone

i'm developing on automated info-system based on self-written nodejs-service starting firefox instance. system should run in ubuntu without controlling of anyone.

current problems lying in autostart of xserver , our own service. created init.d-scripts working , linked in rc-folders bei rc-update defaults etc.

(xserver started startx in init.d-script)

xserver shutting down when reaching login-screen of debian (without gui) , firefox in our service reporting couldn't reach display.

sometines xserver keeps running there no chance reaching programs gui.

there chance run these setup?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
