Thread: Showing windows in Unity?

hello,


i've been happy ubuntu user years now. still using ubuntu 10.04 (and happy it). development project wanted sandboxed environment though, , thought excellent possibility give unity shot.

installed ubuntu 11.10 in virtualbox , i've been developing python programs in couple weeks. far i've not been impressed though. 1 of main frustrations unity have several windows of 1 program open. example 5 libreoffice windows or 8 idle windows (happens lot). click manually installed desktop icon see desktop, , after while try open windows again. when click libreoffice icon in panel on left latest libreoffice window had open. when click icon again see windows (which rather confusing when having 20 windows open) can choose another. in order windows show again need click icon many times there windows open , have window isn't showing yet.

questions:
  • is there simple solution these things?
  • am 1 finding these things huge trouble?

don't know if work, or "simple", read through second paragraph under new features , see if gives want:

no -- not far concerned. don't unity desktop, i'm rapidly become more , more of minority on this.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
