i'm new ubuntu , it's baffling me. seems install on disappears. case in point (ubuntu 11), need install openoffice. go openoffice.org , baffled massive grid of download packages. try 1 debian since seems selection makes sense , end bunch of deb files. confused i'm supposed these, go unbuntu software centre , search it. install it. no problem.

it? there's no program groups, no icons , if search using dash finds absolutely nothing "open", "openoffice". etc.

missing?

openoffice has been renamed libreoffice. should under applications, office menu.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
