Thread: Wireless networking broken after installing fluxbox

building server(11.10) centralize files, & provide vm hosting.
have wireless internet available. during installation, wireless card recognized, , after first boot had connectivity. thinking might want easier interface cli, installed xorg , fluxbox. shortly after, decided against gui, , --purge remove'd 2 packages.
now, when boots, cannot configure network. there several guides cli wireless, reference:
/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
doesn't exist in install. wiped out xorg or fluxbox? has been moved in 11.10? there new method?

after sleeping on few hours, had solution. right in front of me whole time: rescue mode!
first thing happens setup networking. chance reboot after selecting partition /.

while didn't solve issue command line, did fix issue.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
