Found out why lightroom was bogging down to a crawl!!

i kept thinking lightroom 3 eating ram , making computer run hot, stumpled on going on. may many of not speed lightroom, computer in general.

i edit few photos before laptop ( acer aspire) lock , have wait awhile before let me continue. either going add more ram ( 4 gig) or faster computer. decided open task manager processes window on first start instead of when started having problems , amazement 50% of cpu being used , 2  2.5 gig of ram being used file called wmpnetwrk.exe!

again had not opened programs( realize things running in background, nothing should using memory!)

began researching , found out known problem! file attached windows media player , should become enabled when use media player server try , network other devices in home. well, guess what? connected media player directv media server awhile way before installed lightroom. not impressed setup ( did not connect , not show of media, etc.) never connected again thinking long did not select function anymore servers not try , connect. apparently wrong!

you can search issue on google story , tell permanently disable extension. well, low , behold start cpu around 2% , ram 980mb. lightroom , other programs licky split again , computer running cooler!

know affect small portion of users out there, since slow lightroom performance big topic thought needed share!!

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
