iPhone and iPad cannot connect to iMac

i'm having trouble connecting mobile devices imac using edge inspect. edge inspect running on machine , in browser (the icon illuminated in chrome taskbar), when try , connect ios devices via edge inspect app on each one, cannot see imac , attempts use 'manual connect' (with of 3 ip addresses shown in chrome plugin's menu box) result in error message:

 

"connection unsuccessful, please try again."

 

i've got latest versions of ios , edge inspect apps running on iphone , ipad, os x 10.8.3, chrome 26.0.1410.65 edge inspect plugin , latest version of edge inspect app running on imac, , have verified port 7682 open on imac. edge inspect shown allowing incoming connections via firewall. i've tried restarting mac, no avail.

 

tl;dnr: i've tried can find online application work, devices can't 'see' imac. can help?

 

(if matters, i'm running bt home hub 3.0 home network.)

fixed problem - needed power cycle router. schoolboy error!

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
