Suddenly cannot adjust table width via sizing handles

i have found cause of this, , rather bizarre:

 

using structured fm, 10.0.2.419, on windows 7 ultimate (32-bit) os.

 

today noticed cannot resize table columns in usual way, selecting more 1 row in column , dragging sizing handles appear @ edge of column.  sizing handles appear there when rows selected, cannot "grab" them.  instead, when try click on handle, row selection lost.  table has no straddled columns or rows, no hidden/conditional text.  have tried on several different types of tables same non-result.  document otherwise editable.

 

i forced use resize column dialog box, not fast or easy grabbing column edge , visually adjusting it.

 

i have rebooted machine no change in problem.

resolution:

 

the problem appears occur when have various panels/pods open (and set stay open, not iconify after use).  in case working conditional text, deleting no-longer-used conditions documents.  had 3 conditional text panels open in workspace, add/edit condition tag, show/hide conditional text, , conditional text.  last 2 "merged" single panel, , panels set permanently open using double right-arrows in panel dark frame @ top.

 

it turns out when collapse or of these open panels, can select table resize handles , adjust column widths visually.  when have 3 pod panels expanded, resize handles ungrabbable.

 

forgive me if i'm not using "pod" , "panel" precisely accurately - use them (or more try work around them) rather worrying names adobe has chosen.  giving users flexibility, think have made awful usability mess of product.

 

in case, problem seems solved, , posting in case can helpful else.
