Thread: What is LTS (as in 10.04 LTS)?
hi all,
bought asus transformer (tf101). android tablet running 3.2 (honeycomb). i've been trying use ubuntu 10.04 x64 (my platform of choice avoid unity).
tablet not recognized since mtp device. tried following [1] , [2], "transport endpoint not connected" when trying cd /media/transformer. under file manager (double click drive icon on desktop), , "could not open file /media/transformer" gedit.
precisely supported long term in ubuntu 10.04 lts? mtpfs appears broken, can't mount mtp devices. in addition, android plugin eclipse not run due eclipse being down level (3.6.2 required, 3.5 provided, can't install required tools)?

the whole system receives longer support both hardware , software updates. latest stuff need enable backports in software sources, won't mtpfs.
other folks seem report being able mount android 3.2 devices. suspect problem isn't mtpfs itself, becasue version in later versions of ubuntu same, of dependencies libmtp have been updated.mtpfs appears broken, can't mount mtp devices.
see if can connect device livecd or usb of oneiric. if can you'll want @ getting oneiric packages lucid. can manually downloading required packages packages.ubuntu.com, you'd have make sure satisfied dependencies yourself, bit of pain.
again, you're hampered here choosing use older version of ubuntu. there doesn't seem ppa lucid. again, you're looking @ either installing manually or switching newer version of ubuntu (which can without using unity).in addition, android plugin eclipse not run due eclipse being down level (3.6.2 required, 3.5 provided)?
