AVC-intra 100 very slow

hi

i encode xdcam files prores prior editing, looking develop mxf workflow i'm testing avc-intra100.

while picture quality seems fine encode time massive.

a 1 hour xdcam clip takes 40mins transcode prores422.mov, avcintra100.mxf takes 2hours 40mins - 6 times long!!! surely can't right?  both iframe 422 codecs...  i've tried on few different macs give similar results.  can shed light on what's happening here?!

why transcode @ all?

 

xdcam mpeg2, avc-i h.264, requires more power.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
