Thread: All USB devices unresponsive

hi,

have connected wifi dongle, , cellphone charger ports of desktop while now, fine, , has been fine months. wifi works great, , cellphone charges , can mount memory card, etc.

today, bought webcam, logitech hd webcam. when booted ubuntu, webcam detected during boot, vendor model, serial number, etc displayed.

login, , wifi tries connect connection, drops. there no wifi device anymore, no webcam detected cheese, lsusb shows usb ports active.

rebooted, went fedora (i have installed) , had similar problem. problem rose when tried open cheese, wifi died. before that, wifi working fine , webcam detected during boot.

so, can troubleshoot this? know 1 of usb ports bad (according linux boot, says "maybe usb cable bad?") have 6 , using 3. don't use faulty one.

*edit* in windows, works fine. there no conflicts, rule out insufficient power usb or general motherboard problem.

*bump* help? if disconnect webcam usb, wifi , usb dongle work. want 3 work.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
