not long ago resurrected , old laptop daughter using bodhi 3.0.0. had give usb wifi adapter. i'm pretty sure did modprobed ath9k , made sure recent firmware in appropriate directory. maybe had black-list something. more 2 weeks ago blur.

anyway, helping else out. might better next time give information system , os others can see if setup similar enough yours solution work. have careful making broad-stroke assumptions. everyone's system different.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
