Thread: Can't boot with Kernel 3

i running on ubuntu 11.04 , using kernel version 2.6.38-13-generic. tried install kernel version 3.0.0-0300-generic. once installed reboot computer , selected new kernel in grub. computer froze solid purple screen. had force computer off holding power button. when rebooted, selected previous linux versions , selected 2.6.38-13-generic , works fine. can install latest kernel without updating ubuntu 11.10? did wrong last time? if there no way install newer kernel, how can remove 3.0.0-0300-generic don't have select previous linux versions every time boot computer?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
