Thread: No Sound although Snd Card detected

i have been reading through thread after thread find solution problem, far have come nothing. bought new laptop gateway, , have installed ubuntu on it. sound works when running windows 7, , working first 2 or 3 times ran ubuntu. have not messed of system settings @ all, let alone regarding sound, now, sound no longer works in ubuntu. alsamixer detects sound card, lspci -v , aplay -l. have checked in alsamixer , made sure nothing muted. have tried purging , reinstalling sound packages. made sure user part of audio group. not know else try.
