Thread: Question about "purge" and "kill" commands

well, might guess, i'm pretty new , i'm curious somethings...

i'm trying solve problem not able launch x-session, looking in thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1903786

@ point i'm purge , re-install nouveau driver in order start x-session, before want make sure there no nvidia files left in system (the nvidia packages guess causing problem.) have tried running command:
code:
sudo apt-get purge nvidia*
this command hasn't solved problem , got creepy feeling there nvidia files left...

here's question:
sudo apt-get purge nvidia*-command remove nvidia packages regardless of status e if nvidia package/file involved in process?

or have run first:
code:
sudo kill nvidia*
the "kill" command terminates processes, right? if process running, have kill before can purge it?

hoping answers...
