Thread: Software center fails on every install

when try install program software centre gets 50% done fails, fails @ 80% fails every time no matter installing.

went software , neither in software available or software installed location, went limbo.

figured purge of software centre , re-installation of fix it, however, when use synaptic purge, warns me going remove "ubuntu-desktop" don't want do.

there way unlink these 2 things (the ubuntu-desktop , software centre) or need re-install entire ubuntu-desktop repair problem?

first try boot computer , run

sudo apt-get clean  sudo apt-get update  sudo apt-get upgrade
please post error messages, if any.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
