Thread: ssh getting hammered by login attempts... is this normal?

i'm wondering how normal server hammered login attempts? (kinda comical amount of different names used...)

there way configure linux kill connection after 3 failed attempts?

setting ssh use random port help?

or have resort blocking , white listing ip's use?

help, i've used linux years, first server it... quite pleasant experience except damn hackers without life knocking on door...

yup, totally normal. there lots of automated login attempts, too.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
