Thread: ZTE MF668A Mobile Broadband?


i have problem getting mobile broadband service start on device.
there heaps of on forum on matter appears techo' , doesn't make sense me
i'm totally new ubuntu after so, so, long on windows (upon i'm reasonably proficient).

have unlocked (originally telstra) zte mf668a has amaysim sim card in on optus network. usb unlocked on windows 7 laptop , works fine on that.
when plug in ubuntu 10.04 laptop system detects - i.e. shows in computer file browser "zte mmc storage", cannot open there.
have set correctly in network connections under mobile broadband (i.e. correct network , apn).

now, how start service?

have telstra zte mf668 (without "a") working in linux mint 9 , 10 (based on ubuntu 10.04 lucid , 10.10 meerkat).

668 works "out of box" in lm10 using network manager, in lm9 had download , install sakis3g work consistently - http://www.sakis3g.org

maybe if first try starting dongle plugged in @ boot, then, wait few minutes - patient - things settle before you:

right-click network manager icon in notification tray
if "enable mobile broadband" option there , left-click it
left-click network manager icon,
click on account have set up
.... connects.
