When adding a file to an MT session, it appears much further down the timeline. Why?

if have 1 element in track 1, , select element clicking "add mt session" - 2nd element appears waaaaay down timeline.  happens time , there's no consistency when or why.  when cursor @ beginning of timeline.  i'd stop - can do?

sounds if media files you're importing have bwf broadcast wave timestamp applied them.  default, audio files bwf stamp placed @ that position in timeline. 

 

you can disable default behavior unchecking option preferences > multitrack > use embedded timecode when inserting clips multitrack

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
