why does photoshop (cs5) 'hang/stall' when saving as jpeg?

i've been noticing program has seemed run slower few months ago - taking longer load up, buttons being unresponsive few seconds, etc.  noticed if i'm saving psd file jpeg 'hang' several seconds "ok" button greyed out.  after several seconds turn blue when click it, acts unresponsive after few more seconds saves document.  there's no click animation or whatever might call it.

 

like said started running slower.. laggier. 

if has clues or advice, appreciated.

 

some specs - intel core i3/ 3.06ghz/ 4mb/ ati radeon hd 4670

while you're interacting save dialog, you're working windows explorer, rather photoshop.  dialog part of os.

 

i suggest must have installed shell extension that's somehow causing stalls or failures behind scenes.

 

a great freeware program can use both enumerate , disable shell extensions don't want running shell extensions manager nir sofer:

an effective strategy, if bit time consuming, disable non-microsoft plug-ins 1 @ time, followed logout , login, test.  once you've disabled 1 that's causing problem should see explorer dialogs speed up.
