Acrobat not loading Core.DLL

i using computer running windows7 (64 bit) , cannot open or run adobe reader.  either 9.5, 10, or version 11.  after reinstallation of of these versions message "acrobat failed load core.dll" , windows says cannot open in "protected" mode. have not had problems  ( years) version of reader train has come off rails.  need badly.  help!

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
