Converted raw (or .dng) will not open in ACR?
ok, i've gotten sort-of on hurdle of synching pieces associated smart object, i've hit next hurdle (sos appear usual double-edged sword - kinda handy in way rife pitfalls , hurdles)...
i open .nef in bridge, go acr , open file smart object in photoshop. double-click layer icon , i'm in acr, demos , seminars i've watched. but, take same .nef in bridge , open standard image in photoshop, convert smart object, double-click layer icon , .psd , not jump acr. same thing .dng file , lightroom or acr...
i found entry discussion (not in here, couldn't find in here) cs3 (yes 3), user had problem , told it's because original image opened rasterized image, not smart object acr... isn't making sense me 'cause cares way when, it's smart object , should treated 1 no matter how got there...
is there preference or setting or need change in photoshop work expected is there restriction how smart object got created? , if so, there paragraph big, bold letters in documentation makes clear uninformed must open smart object or won't work?
and yes, know in acr can set defaults opening smart object, many other ps users use lightroom , haven't seen such default. means it's easy forget go down open smart object , instead hit open in photoshop...

no, no, no. not "opening file in bridge". bridge just file browser hands file whatever application appropriate, whether bridge, photoshop, illustrator, acrobat or ms word. use bridge view preview of file, bridge can't "open", edit or re-save anything. browses.
now, adobe camera raw can hosted either photoshop or bridge, in fact adobe camera raw opens raw (nef) file, not bridge , not photoshop.
