Illustrator Snap To Grid Playing Mind Games

i'm using pen tool make basic box. want box accurate, i've set grid every 20px, , trying snap box form.

 

now, have actual vector line, , it's border. when go make straight line, 1 point set on grid, , other set under grid outline instead of vector, aligned grid. so:

 

 

now, no big deal, left 1 off, i'll adjust it. maybe it's cool feature in case needed specifically. fix it, , go on right one, 1 correct , notice it's aligned on it's border, , not it's vector. makes me suspicious, fix it, , check left 1 again. guess what? aligned wrong again.

 

i zoomed out make sure using tool correctly , moving specific point , not whole shape (which wouldn't made geometric sense anyway, whatever, thigns happen) , found indeed moving 1 point.

 

okay, fix left 1 again.

 

and check right corner. guess what? misaligned again.

 

i've gone , forth torture device trying basic technique of making bloody square and reason it's switching vectors aligned ever unaligned , @ point i'm furious. please tell me know , how fix it.

 

honeslty, i'd being doing in photoshop, i'm better using ps anyway, reason snap grid feature on doesn't work period. i've been nothing happy previous installments of both of these products, cs6 little step me not vastly upset fact many feature stable , smooth not work. half step forward, ten steps dude, smh. can tell me why either of these issues might occuring?

with object selected, align pixel grid checked on transform panel?
