Importing dxf issue

i'm trying import dxf illustrator cs4. when do, scale of drawing off. need correct when send file plotter cuts out correct dimension. have setting wrong? i've read there issues , cs4. there fix?

not program flaw, user error. ai thinks in inch , point, not metric units. therefore need define suitable scaling factor on import or change unit system in autocad or whatever cad program using.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
