Thread: Grub install failed on GA-Z68X-UDP3

brief summary: how fix failed grub install?

have attempted install of ubuntu on new machine. having done met message "disk boot failure, insert system disk , press enter".

machine triple boot hackintosh, , have completed osx , win7 installs successfully. can boot either of 2 partitions using chameleon (oreferred bootloader of hackintosh community) off of usb pendrive. therefore i'm of hardware's integrity.

note disk hybrid format. did observe subsequent ubuntu install protective mbr in place. did have repair mbr using gdisk fix win7 install.

i've booted machine using live disk , believe capable of running ubuntu. having done checked partitioning using gparted, looks me. finally, mounted efi system partition , verified presence of 'efi/ubuntu/grubx64.efi'

mother board ga-z68x-udp3 f4 bios.

best guess exotic nature of system confused ubuntu installer , grub has not installed properly. can explain how this?

bumping, can give me hint how investigate this?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
