Thread: Help - grub has hijacked my computer.

it may sound dramatic, it's appropriate way have describe happened. built computer, , installed windows 7 on 1tb hard drive. wanted learn ubunut, got smaller hard drive, , installed ubuntu on one, , had them both running concurrently. problem is, ever since then, second hard drive isn't doing correctly.

don't use ubuntu anymore, , when i'm in windows 7, computer doesn't register drive possible storage device. isn't in directory of drives, @ all. furthermore, when remove drive, , attempt boot primary windows 7 drive, computer not start @ all, , there missing file, , computer can not enter bios. serious problem, , feel jeopardizes overall integrity of computer. know how can fix this, , wipe hard drive, , use storage?

you need insert win7 cd , choose boot repair option.
the computer can not enter bios.
ubuntu not tamper bios's. bios loads before ubuntu, need @ other possible reasons this.

once fix windows boot sector, windows , format ubuntu drive ntfs. luck.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
