Thread: id Software and OpenGL idRender problems

hello

i'm running ubuntu 10.04 lts 64-bit on phenom ii x4 955 8gb of ram , radeon hd 6850.

i've heard many people "nvidia prefered gpu linux" i've had equally bad luck, @ times, both. not flame war, please keep in mind.

am, however, having issue both prey , enemy territory: quake wars.

upon trying start prey, literally nothing happens when click it. try start in terminal , "syserror: unable initialize opengl"

upon trying start et:qw, nothing happens well. again, try run in terminal , this: idrendersystem: :shutdown ()

have powerful gpu proprietary amd drivers (from site) installed , more enough power run these games (for instance, run them on windows on same pc fine). did run glxgears thing , 300 frames every time , have played other 3d games yet these 2 refuse run. :/

offering immensely appreciated. thank much!

perhaps missing libraries needed games run.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
