i decided write discuss ubuntu on tablets.

received 7" wintec filemate identity christmas , before christmas knew getting , had done fair amount of research on android , using it. having been ubuntu user since 7th grade (i currentky senior in highschool) u interested in having linux on tablet preferribly ubuntu when got used several days without mods , dissapointed abount of restrictions android had on it. , being linux user complete controll on system long annoyed witg them.

dcided mods t allow me wanted. anandroid user knows first step rooting. im lazy instead of going througt process of rooting used program superoneclick allows connect devise computor , click root gain complete controll of android. did basic rooted things overclocking, sdcard speed hacks, backing up. first thing u did titanium backup , batch backup whole tablet sdcard having done no longer scared break anymore because had backup.

comes part linux. first thing found app called lil'debi supposed 1 click debian/ubuntu installer. dident work wuld start click install , nothing. tried force bt nothing. checked android market , found linux installer app install linux. statted , made loop file image 1gb in size , installed ubuntu 9.04 because had used ob computor mre year , stable , no not still running on computor. u installed startup script linuxchroot , ran on terminal , wasbsupprised booted , worked.

had running linux distro on tablet no gui next step install vnc server on use vnc client on android , use access gui. , ts started have problems missing critical library using apt-get libreadline , got huge strings of errors when tried use installed library using dpkg --force-all -i , installed , functioning apt-get complained lib new fixed downgrading , apt-get fixed. while trying install tightvnc realized many of siurces in sources.list broken manually installed tightvnc. realized had no guu installe @ used apt-get install xorg , tried install xfce , gnome somehow missing got .deb files icewm , installed that. , worked apt-get complained missing dependencies many wanted delete of system fix manually installed enough of them apt-get able fix it. had system wig gui no programs in installed nautilus , synaptic , firefox , had working system. ran out of loop file space , resized 4.99 gb.

untill 1 day tablet decided broken , not boot had reflash rom , lost root , startup script rerooted using superoneclick , used titanium restore , attemped use linux installer reinstall script decided not ket me reinstalled linux installer , reinstalled script when went on buntu supprised find sources.list working again , tried install gnash dident realize linux installer had replaced sources.list wiy debian squeeze 1 tred reinstall libudev , messed dpkg apt-get , aptitude pretty important.

, thats working system. can still download stuff , use ok since have java , can run .jar files ok should able fix @ point.

update:fixed apt reinstalled manually , dependencies using dpkg-deb -x package.deb /
