Thread: Ubuntu Ask me for shut-down over and over.

hi, last year have bought htpc, resized w7 partition , installed ubuntu on (now evolved 11.10).

main software use xbmc axed out watch movies , listen music, minimize xbmc , use browser or other programs.

since september, minimize xbmc (it can running weeks) start "system shut-down" windows on , on , over. no matter if press cancel button, immediatly windows again.

annoying, because situation can last 2 minutes or 15 minutes, , don't let me in system, if move windows again, system shuted down @ 60 seconds.

don't have idea on triggering shut-down, neither wich log rad have clue on happening.

solution i'm figuring reinstalling ubuntu, thing wich avoid.

can me on figuring can problem?

could update failed , bugged system continuous restart? or kernel bug - try kernel version see if fixes problem.

also, if none of above caused consider making reinstall of ubuntu.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
