Thread: configure tor/privoxy

i guess belongs on security discussion forum.

i'm trying configure privoxy , tor work chrome. here i've done far...

i've installed privoxy using synpatic , edited /etc/privoxy/config file uncomment line "forward-socks5 / 127.0.0.1:9050 ." , restarted privoxy typing sudo /etc/init.d/privoxy restart

added tor repository apt , installed tor, torsocks, , tor-geoipdb

added extension switchysharp chrome.

question how configure swichysharp work tor/privoxy?

don't have filled in socks proxy. should enter 127.0.0.1 port 9050 (tor port)? please forgive noob question, browser use socks proxy for? need use tor socks proxy browser? thanks.

you not need use socks proxy option in browser privoxy.


socks server proxy lower level tcp or udp connection, while http server proxy http protocol.

http server can because understands http connection perform content blocking , content caching.

possibly use socks proxy if using other protocols on tor network.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
