Thread: Need help expanding partition in vmware


hello all,

i'm pretty new linux , need expand ubuntu vm disk. been fighting day , decided see if can help.

have ubuntu (11.04) desktop running under vmware player (4.0.1 build-528992) on win7-64 machine. vmware disk file 16gb 8.6gb of unused space (as reported system | administration | disk utility.



of i've seen points me toward gparted change partition sizes when run gparted, sees 1 allocated volume.



here output sudo fdisk -l:

hi there , welcome forums!

gotta admit, use vbox time, i've not tried changing partitions once installed. can change them during install though must possibe - have installed vmware tools? can't see how this'd help, tools , additions seem perfomr miracles!
