Thread: Youtube videos will no longer play after system update

yesterday there system update, accepted do. after that, no video play on of video sites. restarted computer several times, didn't fix anything.

there big red circle line across it, , striped "clapperboard" such used in movies - "lights, camera, action". when click on "play" button, either nothing happens (the clapperboard) or screen turns white (the red circle).

i'm using chromium browser, tried on firefox, , same thing happens. reason i'm using chromium after upgraded ubuntu 11.10 couple of months ago, firefox no longer work. right click button nothing anymore in firefox, , can imagine, makes browser useless. so, went chromium.

had install codecs, etc. when did upgrade, , have been viewing videos fine until yesterday. if download videos, play in of video players, streaming, guess.

have removed , re-installed adobe flash plugin, no joy.

dual core pentium d processors (3.00 ghz each), 3.4 gib memory (i think ddr2), 250 gb hard drive.

can me?

reinstalled flash plug in? wow streaming problem.

dude i'm @ loss myself. haven't used youtube in bit though. i'm guessing need type of codec/driver/plug in/java diagnostic read out terminal fix problem. bummer

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
