Can't get .ase file to load/open in CS6 on PC

hi,  teach intro class college freshmen uses illustrator , photoshop cs6 on pc. when tried show them how save custom color palettes .ase files , load them either new document in ai or ps, file not visible option load. had saved .ase files desktop. ideas? thank you!

might try this,

 

• in photoshop cs6, open swatches panel (window > swatches)
• in swatches panel open flyout menu panel in top right-hand corner choose load swatches
• in load window @ bottom option loading changing file type , .ase shows 1 of types me

 

i going through workflow on windows 7 system when writing suspect process should similar on mac or in illustrator
