Thread: can't enable visual effect

hi, don't know when has started @ moment ubuntu 10.10 can't enable visual effect. hence losing compiz effect. have radeon 2400xt. here output of lspci:

code:
$ lspci -nn | grep vga 01:00.0 vga compatible controller [0300]: ati technologies inc rv610 [radeon hd 2400 xt] [1002:94c1]
i tried activate recommended driver through system->administration->additional drivers , result rig won't display proper resolution (supposed 1680x1050). remove driver , install proprietary driver downloaded amd website. result still same, still can't enable visual effect. although display resolution correct.

supposed do? please me guys.

once drivers installed may need reconfigure xorg.
